• Label modifications: Any modified version must state it has been changed, include modification dates, and acknowledge it is based on the original ONLYOFFICE by Ascensio System SIA.
• User interface notices: If your version includes an interactive interface, it must clearly credit ONLYOFFICE as the original developer, indicate modifications, and link to license info.
• Trademarks: The license does not grant rights to use ONLYOFFICE trademarks or branding; these are covered by a separate Trademark Policy.

What are the key differences between the Community and Enterprise/Developer versions of the editors?

Designed for tech enthusiasts who prioritize transparency, the Docs Community version is completely free and open-source. You have full access to download, install, and inspect the code yourself. This openness lets you verify exactly how the software works, giving you complete confidence in its security and reliability. The Docs Enterprise and Developer versions offer an Admin Panel (a secure web interface for managing server configuration and monitoring) and access to mobile web editors. These versions are built to be highly scalable, seamlessly handling thousands of concurrent users and complex deployments within large organizations. Docs Developer also includes the Document Builder Service – a framework for building and modifying documents without actually running the editors. How do you license non-code content?

Not everything in our distribution is source code. We license certain non-code elements such as illustrations, icon sets, and technical documentation under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). This allows you to share and adapt these materials, provided you give appropriate credit and distribute your contributions under the same license.

Navigating the ONLYOFFICE Trademark Policy

Our copyright licenses tell you how you can use our code. Our Trademark Policy tells you how you can use our brand identity. Trademarks include our name, logos, service marks, and trade dress (the overall look and feel of our software).

Even if you have the right to modify our open-source code, that license does not grant you the right to use our trademarks. Ascensio System SIA strictly reserves all rights to the ONLYOFFICE brand.

What are the permitted uses of ONLYOFFICE trademarks?

We want you to talk about our software, but you must do so honestly and clearly. You may use our trademarks solely to:

• Identify the unmodified software as originating from ONLYOFFICE.
• Provide accurate attribution as required by our copyright license.
• Make descriptive references, such as stating your integration is “compatible with ONLYOFFICE” or your custom project is “based on ONLYOFFICE.”

Any time you use our trademarks, you must ensure your statements are truthful. Your use must never suggest that we sponsor, endorse, or are officially affiliated with your product or service unless we have a specific agreement stating otherwise.

What uses are strictly prohibited?

To prevent market confusion, we prohibit certain actions regarding our brand identity. You must not:

• Use our trademarks as part of your company, product, or domain name.
• Register social media handles or subdomains that incorporate our trademarks.

How should I brand a modified version or fork?

The AGPLv3 allows you to fork our code and build your own version. However, if you modify our software, you must create your own brand identity for it.

You cannot use ONLYOFFICE as the name or primary identifier of your modified product. You must clearly state in your documentation, website, and user interface that your version is modified and is not the original software. You can only use our trademarks for nominative reference, simply to explain the origin of the underlying code.

What are the attribution requirements for trademarks?

Whenever you use our trademarks in permitted contexts, you must include a clear and legible attribution notice. The required text is:

“ONLYOFFICE is a trademark of Ascensio System SIA.”

You must place this notice where users can easily see it, such as in your website footer, documentation, or legal notices section. Do not minimize it or hide it.

How do you handle quality control and enforcement?

We care deeply about our reputation. Any permitted use of our trademarks must maintain the goodwill associated with the ONLYOFFICE brand and meet reasonable quality standards. We actively monitor how our brand is used across the web.

If we find that a project or company is violating this policy, perhaps by using a confusingly similar logo or failing to properly label a modified SaaS version, we retain the right to require immediate corrections. If a party refuses to comply, we can suspend or revoke their right to use our trademarks and pursue legal remedies under the laws of Latvia.
