Strategic thinking in an open-minded team: Sara Bogavac reflects on her internship experience at ONLYOFFICE

Personal background

Please briefly introduce yourself.

Hi! I’m Sara. I come from a legal background, but I’ve always been passionate about technology and creative communication. Over time, I naturally gravitated toward marketing, where I can think strategically while also using storytelling and communication. These skills align surprisingly well with my legal training.

What was your inspiration behind pursuing this particular career path or field of study?

I’m someone who thrives on variety and problem-solving, and marketing offers both. The energy of the field and the chance to dive into different topics and industries keep me engaged and excited to keep learning.

The one person (a mentor, teacher or public figure) who has influenced your professional journey so far?

I had a professor at university who really encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try different things. Her support made me realize I don’t have to stick to just one path, which is why I decided to explore marketing alongside my studies.

What’s a fun or quirky fact about you that your team might not know?

I love filling my home with flowers and plants. My friends joke that my living room looks like a small botanical garden!

ONLYOFFICE experience

What’s the one surprising thing you discovered about ONLYOFFICE after joining?

I was honestly amazed by how international and open-minded the team is. What really stood out to me is how smoothly everything runs even though we’re a remote team, everything is so well-organized that collaboration feels natural and effortless.

Have you had any memorable moments with your team or fellow interns?

Attending conferences as part of the ONLYOFFICE team was a real highlight for me. It was a great opportunity to connect with colleagues like Natalia and Petar, and I enjoyed the time we spent working together during those events. I also really appreciate Ksenia, who has been incredibly supportive and always encourages me to take initiative.

Is there a particular value or practice at ONLYOFFICE that resonates with you?

I really value the trust and flexibility here. Being able to work remotely helps me stay productive and creative, but it also means I can keep a good balance between work and life.

If you could describe your internship experience in three words, what would they be and why?

Creative, challenging, and rewarding. Every day brings something new, and with the support of my team, I’m constantly learning and growing.

How has this internship influenced your career goals?

This internship showed me how much I enjoy working in a tech-driven, creative environment. It’s inspired me to continue exploring opportunities in the digital and IT sector, especially in roles that encourage innovation and fresh ideas.

Skill development and motivation

Can you share a project you worked on during your internship that you’re particularly proud of?

One project I’m particularly proud of is the series of SEO blog articles I created. It was a great opportunity to dive into IT topics and practice making complex information clear and engaging for a broad audience.

What tools or skills have you picked up that you think will be useful in your future career?

During my time here, I’ve become much more comfortable with digital marketing tools and strategies, especially those related to SEO and content localization. I’ve also improved my research skills and learned how to adapt content for different cultures and languages. Plus, working in such a diverse, international team has really helped me sharpen my communication and collaboration abilities.

How do you stay motivated and productive during remote work?

I like to set clear goals for myself each day and take regular breaks to stay focused. Staying in touch with my team keeps me motivated and helps me feel connected, even when we’re all working from different places.

Future plans

What’s your dream job or company (besides ONLYOFFICE, of course)?

After spending time at ONLYOFFICE, I’ve realized how much I value working in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment where innovation, creativity, and collaboration truly matter. Ideally, I see myself continuing to grow in a setting like this, a place with room to learn, contribute meaningfully, and be part of something that’s constantly evolving.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Ideally, I see myself in a role where I can use both my analytical skills and my creative side, maybe as a marketing strategist or an advisor for tech companies. My background in law will definitely come in handy, especially if I end up working with topics like data protection or digital policy.
