Charting new professional paths: Natalija Blagojevic shares her internship experience at ONLYOFFICE

We continue our series of interviews with our wonderful interns who help us make ONLYOFFICE better and better every day. Today, Natalija Blagojevic from Serbia/Italy takes us through her journey and shares insights about her internship experience with ONLYOFFICE. Dive into her story in this post.

Personal background

Please briefly introduce yourself.

My name is Natalija, and I am from Serbia, but living in Milan, Italy for the past three years as an international student at Bocconi University. I am studying International Economics and Management, and in a month, I will finish my Bachelor’s degree.

What was your inspiration behind pursuing this particular career path or field of study?

For so long, I did not know what I wanted to do. But over time, I realized that through marketing I can express my creativity, it is dynamic, and I can work remote. As I traveled a lot over the past few years, I realized how much I enjoy that, and working from home I can travel more and still be able to work. And a dynamic environment that is constantly changing, is a bit challenging but never boring and I enjoy that.

The one person (a mentor, teacher or public figure) who has influenced your professional journey so far?

A lot of people in my life helped me find my way, but I am especially thankful to my mom, who supported me in everything I did. Besides her, a volunteering experience in Unbox Hab when I was in high school, as a whole, and people there influenced my professional journey and helped me lay down foundation for my future career.

What’s a fun or quirky fact about you that your team might not know?

I am obsessed with TV shows and love binge watching them. But interesting in that is that I prefer re-watching shows that I already watched than watching new ones. Usually on repeat I have Friends, How I met your mother, Modern Family and other sitcoms.

ONLYOFFICE experience

What’s the one surprising thing you discovered about ONLYOFFICE after joining?

One surprising thing I discovered was how open and collaborative the team is. Despite being a global company with an online work environment, communication is seamless and everyone is genuinely supportive. It made me feel part of the team right away and enjoy the work I do.

Have you had any memorable moments with your team or fellow interns?

I did not meet many of my coworkers, but one time that I did, we went on a seminar in Belgrade. They were all so nice and I had so much fun. Also, by the end of the first day of the seminar I won a PC monitor on a quiz, which was quite surprising for me but an interesting experience!

Is there a particular value or practice at ONLYOFFICE that resonates with you?

The one thing that maybe stood out the most for me, and I appreciate it a lot is the fact that mistakes are accepted. If you make one, it is okay! It can be fixed and as long as you learn from it, it is not an issue, because who works, makes mistakes.

If you could describe your internship experience in three words, what would they be and why?

• Insightful because I deepened my understanding of localization, market research, and international communication in a remote environment.
• Challenging because I combined working with university classes and exams, but that helped me improve my time management skills.
• Empowering because I had the opportunity to take ownership of real projects from translating and localizing content to publishing with WordPress, which gave me confidence and practical skills for my career.

How has this internship influenced your career goals?

This internship opened my eyes to new professional paths I hadn’t considered before, especially in tech world and working with WordPress. Working on translations and market research for the Balkans helped me realize how crucial it is to adapt global products for local audiences. I also discovered a strong interest in content management and international collaboration, especially through my hands-on experience with WordPress and engagement with regional partners. As a result, I’m now more focused on pursuing a career in marketing, in a fully remote environment and I believe I can do it.

Skill development and motivation

Can you share a project you worked on during your internship that you’re particularly proud of?

During my internship I translated from English to Serbian and made ONLYOFFICE more accessible to local audiences that do not speak English. In my opinion, this is especially useful for older demographics and it made me happy to be able to bring tech closer to them.

What tools or skills have you picked up that you think will be useful in your future career?

During this internship, I’ve developed strong time management skills and learned how to work more independently, which has boosted my ability to prioritize tasks and stay productive without constant supervision. I also gained valuable experience in remote collaboration, communication and using digital tools to stay aligned with the global team. These skills are essential for any modern, international work environment and will definitely support my future career.

How do you stay motivated and productive during remote work?

I stay motivated and productive during remote work by setting a structured daily routine and creating a dedicated workspace that minimizes distractions. I combine work and university, so I set small, achievable goals for each day to keep a sense of progress. Having a clear purpose behind my tasks keeps me driven, even when working independently.

Future plans

What’s your dream job or company (besides ONLYOFFICE, of course)?

My dream job is working in marketing, in a remote setting, creating content and managing social media strategies and campaigns. I do not have a preferred company, but ONLYOFFICE set my standard, as a place filled with possibilities for growth, understanding mentor, and company culture in general.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Five years from now, I see myself continuing to work remotely in a dynamic and creative role, ideally as a marketing manager, where I lead digital campaigns and contribute to shaping a brand’s social media strategy and overall online presence. I also hope to work with international teams, combining my passion for cross-cultural communication and content to help brands grow their global reach. Remote work offers the flexibility and focus I value, and I see it as a long-term career choice.
