Why Google Translate

The translation feature has been available in ONLYOFFICE editors for a long time owing to the use of a third-party plugin provided by Yandex. However, we received a lot of requests from our users who prefer Google Translate. After weighing up the pros and cons, we decided to replace the current plugin. Starting from version 6.1 of ONLYOFFICE Docs, you can translate using Google Translate.

The Google Translate plugin helps you get the meaning of any unknown word or phrase in a foreign language within seconds and supports a lot of different languages.

The new plugin is located on the Plugins tab of the top toolbar.

How to use Google Translate

The new plugin is very easy to use. To translate a word or even a whole sentence, just follow these steps:

  • Select the required text;
  • Switch to the Plugins tab and choose Translator;
  • Choose the language you need from the drop-down list;
  • The text will be translated into the required language.
