Move your TeamLab Portal to Ireland!

11 June 2013 By Nina 6 204

Hello everyone!

Today we have great news for our European users.

We got a new data center for TeamLab servers based in Ireland. From now on there are two locations where TeamLab is hosted: US West (Oregon) Region and EU (Ireland) Region. Both belong to the recognized cloud hosting leader – Amazon.

Why is it important?

The best part here is that you can arrange your cloud office migration from Oregon data center to the Irish one. The closer the server location is,  the higher your portal performance speed will be. So if your team is  closer to Ireland rather than to the USA, the migration step makes a lot  of sense!

How do I migrate?

To transfer TeamLab portal to the other region, go to “General Settings” and find the “Server Region” field.

Please, note: once you check a different location, the migration process starts and you can not cancel it. The portal will not be available during the migration process. Once migration is complete the portal URL will be changed and all the shared documents links will be inaccessible. All the information will be transmitted to the new data bases and will not be available at the previous address.

Bon Voyage!

Good news but you did not indicate what one has to do about the documents after the statement that the shared document links will be inaccessible.
Presumably that refers to using them from outside TeamLab rather than within it?

Lee, sorry for the delay with the answer.
When it comes to external users, you’ll just need t share the document once more since after migration the link will be different.

Thanks for the reply and sorry to extend the question further.
I don’t use links per se, rather I have three users all of whom access the documents directly from within TL by logging in.
Is there anything that needs to be done in that case?

          Hi Lee!
No, in this case you don’t need to change anything, don’t worry.

In view of recent events regarding PRISM and also data harbor law, if my data is hosted in Ireland, is it still subject to USA law because both amazon and teamlab are US based companies?

      Hello, Sagar.
Since our company (Ascensio System SIA) is based in Latvia, we are not connected with the USA government.
As for Amazon, we do not provide them with our users’ data.
      Hope this answers your question.
