We have already covered the Documents module functionality, released in TeamLab new version 3.0. There is still a number of the other modules enhancements worth mentioning. So, what changes are introduced?
– Project templates are available. A new project creation has become much easier- you have a preformatted document ready with all necessary components: milestones, discussions, tasks assigned to employees.
– TeamLab Talk functionality is improved. New features include group messaging, multichat and message history.
– Tasks section is enhanced. We have added tasks due dates, task reminder and “My tasks” page.
We hope the introduced changes will help you manage your projects in a more convenient and efficient way.
Since the last Version of TeamLab you’ve managed to include some major features. Thanks for that. I love the ability to store dates for tasks. Pretty good.
Are you thinking about a IOS Version of your app? Or better a Webapp to get to all of the mobile users? It would be the most enhancing thing right now.
Best wishes, Floyd
Floyd, thanks for your feedback! We do plan to introduce TeamLab mobile version, that will be optimized for iPhone and Andriod, this spring.
Mobile version of TeamLab would great enhancement to product including iPhone/iPad app which can store project offline and re-sync when has wifi or 3G connection.
Sounds really great – will this new features also be available to the sourceforge-project – the current revision/version is still from end of december 2010?
Thanks, Michael
Michael, the open source version will be updated in a couple of weeks.
hi, any news about the open source version?
Stefano, sorry for the delay! It will be available next week.
Thankyou for the release!
I just updated to version 3.1 but something gone wrong 🙁
Since there wasn’t any script to update the SQLLite structure, I just deployed all the new files without overwrite existing databases.
Now everithing seems to work except for the “Projects Module” (‘[SQLiteException (0x80004005):SQLite error no such column: private]’).
Stefano, please write to support@teamlab.com and our specialists will help you to resolve the issue.
mobile version will be cool thing 🙂
I just love this – would be better though if we could create accounts for customers…anything planned for this?
Mike, if you mean the ability to give customers a limited access to a project info, it will be available at the end of this spring.
great cannot wait. will make an excellent product even better. as soon as i can make accounts for customers who can only view their project ill be rolling this out within my company.
keep up the hardwork.
Thanks!We’ll definitely follow your wish!
These improvements sound great. I can’t wait for the new release. I’ve been digging through the source-code of v2.2 and see where RBAC (role-based access control)has been worked on. Will this be included in the next release? You guys are awesome!
Thanks for your kind words! We plan to introduce access rights control at the end of this spring.
Hello Olga,
I’ve two questions:
1. What do you mean with realeas 3 end of this spring? is there a specific date?
2. Is there any chance that instead of OpenOffice also MS Office can be used for online editing? Like a MS Addon. This is our main concern, because currently only SharePoint offers this…and I do not really like Sharepoint 😛
Thanks
Stephan
Stephan, why won’t you use OpenOffice for editing? It supports MS formats 97-2010(“.doc”,“.xls”,“.ppt”). We do not plan to introduce a MS Addon.
The enhancements for the current version 3.0 will be introduced in May- that’s the most exact date so far 🙂
first thanks for that great work!
Did you plan to release the function for editing documents for Mac and Linux soon ? Our Team work on Win Mac an Linunx so that will be really great. THANKS.
Hello Olga:
Promising platform!
When will it support Chinese?
Thank you!
We plan to introduce the translation project in near future. As it’s ready, the time the Chinese version is ready, will depend on users enthusiasm.
Olga reply thanks very much looking forward to exit the Chinese version of this outstanding product, I am willing to help promote the.
1, China’s current understanding of this project many people, the Chinese version is conducive to the promotion in China, I think Chinese people will soon be very much.
2, if they can release a second development is even more perfect example of such users can be based on this platform OA or other applications.
3, 3.0 whether vs2010 source? Whether to support the VS IDE based debugging and running?
Thanks again!
Thanks for your offer! The source code for version 3.0 will be updated after April, 15. It supports VS IDE debugging.
Dear Olga,
Are you planning on implementing full calendar (i.e. scheduling, reminders, timeline, events, etc.)?
The current “event” feature is not a calendar replacement by any means.
Thanks for your kind support and one of the best open source platforms!!
Another request:
Can we show more than one poll in the same widget, in your next release please?
Thanks again =)
Ali, thanks for your feedback! We plan to add calendar this summer. Concerning the polls- won’t promise it in the next release, but our developers will think about its redesign.
Hi, really enjoying using Teamlab. I found a small bug with one of your date widgets and so I mailed support, do you guys have JIRA or some sort of bug tracking facility that I can bug more formally. It’s most likely a very quick fix
Simon, thanks for your contribution! We do not plan to add the bug tracking facility in the near future as it’s not a high demand among the majority of TeamLab users.
Dear Olga
I see that the CRM module is coming soon.
Do you perhaps have an approximate estimate thereof?
Teamlab seems wonderful, however, before we implement something for our company (i.e. Accounting and Tax practice), we would need an integrated CRM to manage client details.
Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Kind regards
Michael
Michael, CRM will appear in summer and include the following features: sales managers base, clients relations history, automatic reminders, multiple mailing, calendar, reports, documents, data import/export.
If you need any other info, please feel free to ask!
Dear Olga,
You guys are awesome! We are a startup in India and started using teamlab! It’s just superb! The whole fresh approach of project work co existing with community (photos, blog etc.,) is very refreshing!
To top it all, all this is free!
I have a small request. Can we have sub tasks? This sub task hierarchy helps in planning projects and dependencies on tasks.
Thank you very much.
Phani
Phanindra, thanks a lot!we plan to add subtasks in future.
Glad to hear that! I’m eagerly awaiting subtasks. Please take an example 1st by looking at workflowy, then by looking at todoist.
Can you add the ability of changing the theme logos including the favicon, emails, etc. to something more personal while keeping your name in the footer?
Thanks guys!!
Ali, thanks for the suggestion- we’ll add it to our customization plans.
just a small suggestion, can you add the funcionality to add a picture to a project? it would be nice
thankz!
Martin, thanks for suggestion!
Dear Olga, the best in the Project field to custom reports for data analysis in the project, such as the efficiency of statistical work.
Thanks! 🙂
Hi,
I still can’t use some of the fields in the rich text editors on my iPad. Asked that 6 months ago as well and you said it would be fixed soon.
Awesome product by the way. Looking forward to the next release with user permissions.
Getz
Erik
Erik, we are working on it and plan to introduce by the end of the spring along with a mobile app. Sorry for the current inconvenience!
Will there be an option to add statuses to tasks, like in-progress, ready to test, accepted, etc… Also, a better task filtering, sorting?
We plan to add the ability to track task progress in the following way: an employee enters the percentage of work done in the special bar. As for tasks filtering- we’ll think it over, thanks!
Hey Ms. Olga, great great tool just discovered it and this is way better than Project. But there is something bugging my mind, I think I saw a Gantt Chart in a screenshot on http://www.alternative.to I’m I wrong?
Gantt charts could be really cool.
Omar, currently TeamLab does not include Gantt charts but we think about it.
Hi and congrats to the team: we use TeamLab everyday at work and it works perfectly 🙂
Do you plan to release a new functionnality so we can edit the name of the task creator?
For example, here, i’m the only one adding tasks in TeamLab, and i do it for everybody in the department. When a marketing guy asks us for a new task, he sends me a mail so i add it into TeamLab and assign it to a developer. But then, when the developer interacts with comments or status, i’m the one receiving notifications, while it should be the guy working in the marketing department… (who has access to TeamLab but doesnt create tasks).
So, it would be great if we could also modify the task’s creator or add a new type of user who will receive the messages…
We understand your issue and will take it into account. Thanks!
first thanks for that great work!
Did you plan to release the function for editing documents for Mac and Linux soon ? Our Team work on Win Mac an Linux so that will be really great. THANKS.
Thanks for your kind words! We are working on web office so you will be able to edit docs online regardless of OS.
Добрый день. Подскажите, когда планируете сделать AMI с 3й версией? Очень ждем 🙂
Антон, осталось ждать совсем чуть-чуть- на следующей неделе сделаем 🙂
Hi,
we would like the ability to search across projects and community. Its hard to find information if you are using the community wiki and blogs for updates, and the project discussions. A Google type search across the entire offering would be the best thing you guys could add.
thanks Rick
Rick, thanks for the remark!
Olga, really great service. We use it in Canada in our cross border business. Adding subcontractors from many countries and feel like family because of TeamLab.
However there is one real buggy thing. All employees even content writers from another countries can track all projects of my company including financial and tax preparation. How can I make project content visible only for project team members? And also employees outside the project shouldn’t have the ability to click on person’s profile who is not in one project with them to see his activity in another project (though they may see his activity in community). Please advise.
Thanx a lot, Serge, we are glad that TeamLab is helpful for your work. As for your question, project access rights features including a possibility to have a closed project visible only to project members, will be included in TeamLab’s new version that is coming in June.
Is there any Bug reporting functionality where I can add my testing team and they can upload there bugs related to listed projects.
Rishi, currently, there’s no bug reporting functionality. It is in our plans though.
The lack of subtasks make teamlab an ALMOST perfect solution for our company…
Without subtasks it is nearly impossible to manage a medium complexity project.
Please, include subtasks!
Gabriel, we’re working on subtasks right now.
Subtasks would definitely be a major MAJOR improvement to your (already) exceptional platform. Since your’re already working on it, pleaseeeee can you give us a rough estimate of when will it become available? Thank you very much
Miguel, it’ll appear in October. It’s a little time you’ve got to wait 🙂
http://www.quora.com/TeamLab/What-features-should-Teamlab-add
Erik, we’re working on the implementation of subtasks now and will introduce this option next year.
Olga,
Any update on when the subtasks may be available.
Team lab is a great tool and liking the tools makes me want to add more to the wishlist 🙂 . My next item on the wishlist, it would be great to have the option of adding tasks to a project from the calendar.
Thanks,
Prashanth
Hi Olga,
Recently I got to know about TeamLab and downloaded a version. Right now I am using it to make sure everything is working as per my requirement before introducing this in my team. Everything is working great and wonderful. But I am facing an issue with creating tasks, when i am trying to create a task in a project, when i click on create task or Add new task links in task tab nothing is happening. Actually Wizard to create a task should pop up but this is not working/showing up. Can u please help me in resolving this issue so that I can proceed and introduce this in my company.
Appreciate your help.
Regards,
Jagadish
Jagadish, what version do you use? Recently we’ve updated the source codes and in the new 6.0 version there’s no problem with creating tasks, while the previous version included the described error.
Have you planned to add Gantt diagram?
We do plan to add Gantt diagram. But, unfortunately, it won’t be implemented in the near future.
Thanks for your reply Olga
Hi Olga,
I have downloaded a source code version some time in Feb 2012 and using it, everything is working fine and now I want to upgrade it to latest version without losing any data from the existing version.
1. Can you please let me know the process for the same?
2. Also can you please let me know the process and procedure for how to take a back up of the existing version and how to restore the same?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Jagadish.
