ONLYOFFICE Document Editors – version 4.2 released

Hello everyone!

We have released new version of ONLYOFFICE document editors with new long-awaited features and a lot of bug fixes.

4-2

What’s new
  • Redesigned embedded viewers with clean minimalistic UI. Easily upload and embed PDF and MS Office documents anywhere.
  • Footnotes. Open and edit footnotes to comment on the document or provide a source reference.
  • Equations in Spreadsheet and Presentation editors. Insert equations onto your worksheet to clarify how exactly calculations were made. Present scientific formulas and math equations on your presentation slides to visualize your report or thesis.
  • Sparkline charts. Analyze trends presented with the help of sparklines, mini charts in the background of the cell. Modify and customize sparklines to your taste.
  • New visual styles of all the chart types and rotation of 3D diagrams. Make your data visualization beautiful and more descriptive.

Moreover, Document Server’s back-end became faster and more secure with node.js updated to the current LTS release.

Detailed changelog can be found on GitHub.

We hope you’ll enjoy working with ONLYOFFICE editors. Don’t hesitate to share your opinion with us here in comments or on social networks.

    Hello,

I use Libreoffice, but your office suite looks really cool. So if you are going OpenSource, could you just join the Document Foundation and their project. Such a Super Office would be a great competitor for MS Office.

    All the best!

No accent works in the Portuguese language. Is there any forecast for this fix?

Hi! You are using desktop editors, right?

It is not our own bug, there’s a problem in some Google component used in our app and we are waiting for its developers to fix it. We’ve reported that bug for them. Will try to contact them one more time.

Despite intensive search, I did not find any possibilty to insert or edit footnotes/endnotes (advertised in the 4.2 version) nor to hyphenate a word at the end of a line.
How can I proceed for these two essential editor functions?
I use the Desktop version of OnlyOffice 4.2.5.312 for Linux.
    Regards

Hello! Footnotes are supported by your version of the app. This means you can open documents which contain footnotes and edit them, but you cannot add footnotes yourself.

You will be able to add footnotes, starting from version 4.3, which we hope to release this month. As for endnotes – we are planning to add them later, and yes – we do understand how important these functions are for our users.

We’ve also got some requests considering hyphenation and will pass them to our developers. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi, Katya! What solution do you use? ONLYOFFICE in the cloud? Desktop app?

Version 4.2 supports opening footnotes. You will be able to add them starting from version 4.3. Cloud version will be updated to 4.3 this weekend, new version of desktop editors is highly likely to be built by the end of the week as well. So… Soon)
