The Android app beta testing went great, and we want more

The beta testing of our Android app was completed successfully, so we decided to expand the practice and launch beta testing for other products. Want to take part and be the 1st to try new features? Read this post to learn how!

The results of Android app beta testing

A month ago we launched beta testing of the new version of our Android app – ONLYOFFICE Documents 2.0 with document editing and co-editing (the old version only allowed users to view docs).

1,350 participants from the USA, Russia, Germany, Brazil, France, Spain and many other countries installed the app and left several dozens of reviews with high-quality feedback. We were very happy to receive positive reviews that showed us we are moving in the right direction, but those with bug reports were the most important. Our developers worked together with the community to make the app better. They significantly improved the app by fixing issues that would be critical for a stable version, for example:

  • connecting to different ports;
  • interface bugs;
  • connecting to Nextcloud.

Now the stable version is available on Google Play, and tremendous credit for that undoubtedly goes to our beta testers (they are awesome, to tell the truth).

We also received some feature requests – offline work without signing in to the portal (will be added later) and connecting the app directly to Nextcloud (also working on this, but it’s not that easy). We continue doing everything we can to create the best Android office app for you, guys!

And one more thing: this wasn’t the 1st  open testing we launched. Our prior experience with the call for testing of the snap package for ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors had proven beneficial both for us and our users. So, we decided to continue!

How to become an ONLYOFFICE beta tester?

Drop us a line at to let us know that you are ready. That is what happens next:

  1. We add you to our list of beta testers.
  2. When the next beta testing starts, we contact you directly.
  3. You get access to the new features.

It’s not necessary, but we would be glad to know a little bit about our testers. If you want, you can also add some information about yourself to the letter, e.g. your interests, occupation, previous testing experience.

What’s coming?

One of the most exciting things for us is our new solution for editing encrypted documents online –  ONLYOFFICE Blockchain Edition. It combines the advantages of end-to-end encryption and decentralized blockchain architecture. To learn more about the solution, read this blog post.

If you want to be the 1st to try, you know what to do : )
